I did an ample amount of research on hamster CARE before buying Kiwi, my first hamster, but didn't think cage research would be necessary. The sales associate, who said she has owned many hamsters, pointed me towards the double level CritterTrail cage, and so of course, i bought it! Now that i've looked further into things i realize that critter trail cages aren't the best, especially not for my Syrian! I can't afford to buy a new cage, and i don't want to upset my family members who bought the cage for me. What do i do? I want Kiwi to have a happy, comfortable cage, but also don't want to shell out too much money making/buying a new one! HELP!

Eeep. It's hard to tell you what to do since you basically say you can't do the obvious advice people will tell you. Buy or make a bigger cage. If money is your biggest worry then there are some pretty cheap alternative DIY cages you could try making such as the bin cage. I got my hamster on Saturday and bought a cage in store, knowing I would have to order a suitable cage online as my local stores don't carry cages big enough for Syrians. My parents were annoyed by the size of the cage but ultimately you have to do what's right for the animal. It's unfair to keep it in an unsuitable cage to keep the peace. As Erin says, the difference between a good owner and a bad owner isn't making no mistakes but it's fixing your mistakes as soon as you're able. Good luck!

A bin cage as Bloo 'n' stuff suggested is the best alternative as they are cheaper than actual hamster cages and bigger You will need an adults help though, so it could be a project with someone in your family who's willing to help you
Here's a link to a tutorial on how to make a very simple bin cage, but you can find many more DIYs on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlzNEvzHpfw
Good luck!!
